Arrived at the Terminal to be met by a BA Manager (a lady who would turn out to be truly lovely) asking if i would be willing to fly First Class or Business Class from Heathrow, and €600, which to me sounded like a good deal, whilst however i was in no rush i did have onward connections that i needed to make, and i wasn't that fussed how i got there, so long as I got my points - after a bit of to-ing and fro-ing, the deal was sealed. This was just as well as i was bloody starving at this stage, having forgone breakfast at the Travelodge (its not all glamour on this trip you know)
However, there was always the risk that someone wouldn’t turn up, so i was given a standby ticket and sent on my way. I think this is a very important routing for BA, everybody seemed to be Gold card holders (judging by the luggage tags) using it, and got the feeling there may have been a lot of people making a surgeon look like Mother Teresa, if someone was being denied boarding :)
Security was interesting, with plenty of people getting agitated, i suspect they were not used to being told what too do, though they failed to see that the more they argued with the security people, the more delayed they were
Anyway in the end, everybody turned up and i was sent on my way to LHR - i think they thought i was a saint, though to me getting First + €600 seemed like a good deal.
It was a deal that was definitely too good - LHR First check in, asked if i got compensation -turns out that I may have mis understood what was being offered

I think what has happened is because you get 210 TP on LCY-JFK routing, and i said i wasn't too fussed how i got there, so long as i got the TP's, it has been taken the only way to get 210 is to go First, whereas in reality i'd have got them anyway because i had been denied boarding
The deal "apparently" was First OR Club and €600, and not First and €600. I now wish i'd have questioned more, I thought it would just turn up as a cheque - if i’d know that, i’d have gone Club and taken the money. After having the Concorde Room Manager running about trying to sort it out, i’ll have to battle this out with CS when i get back.
